I came to Denmark for a family reunion on my mom’s side. After a week on my own in Copenhagen, I met up with my mom, brother and niece for the short journey to the Jutland Peninsula to join the rest of our clan. We had a wonderful weekend renewing ties with about seventy members from our large extended family, but when Sunday came it was time to move on. The four of us hopped in our rental car and followed my mom’s cousin, Brigitte, and her husband Henning a few hours north to their summer house, close to the small town of Vejlby on the west coast.Vejlby is marked by the green bubble on the map, and is pretty much directly across from Edinburgh. With that in mind, it’s not hard to imagine the first Vikings as they set sail in pursuit of land and riches. Many Scots and Danes share common ancestors.
