For a chef and food lover, there’s no greater culinary Mecca in North America than New Orleans. Influenced by cultures that have converged upon this great city on the Mississippi over its 300 years history, NOLA is full of a near endless number of restaurants, cafes and bars. The trick is to find the locals’ haunts. Because amongst some of the best eateries in the world, there’s a bunch of “other” places that are all about capturing tourist dollars over everything else. It’s the same anywhere in the world. I rarely suggest musical tracks to accompany my blog posts, but in this case I just had to include one of my favourite songs of all time, “New Orleans is Sinking” by the great Canadian band, The Tragically Hip, who are heavily influenced by the music of the South.
